PUBLIC CONSULTATIONS ON PAKISTAN'S GREEN TAXONOMY

 

In order to boost private finance for climate initiatives and to promote green finance, Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and State Bank of Pakistan is pleased to share the draft National Green Taxonomy for public consultation. The Taxonomy has been developed in collaboration with State Bank of Pakistan and the World Bank has provided the technical input.

 

Pakistan Green Taxonomy document classifies the green projects and activities enabling the policy makers, banks and financial institutions and investors to increase capital flows to the sectors for climate risk mitigation and adaptation. The taxonomy provides an authentic account of green projects and activities.

 

To ensure that the taxonomy reflects the collective wisdom of all the stakeholders, the draft taxonomy has been uploaded on MoCC&EC as well as SBP websites for public consultations. The consultation period is open for two weeks starting from 4th February 2025 till 18th February 2025.

 

For ease of understanding, a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) is also available alongside the draft document. MoCC&EC invites all the stakeholders including the climate professionals, civil society, academia, development partners commercial banks and public at large to share their valuable input on the draft taxonomy by or before 18th February 2025.
