Senator Musadik Malik, Emphasizes Leadership and Corporate Responsibility in Addressing Climate Challenges at Leaders in Islamabad Summit

Islamabad, April 16, 2025 — Senator Musadik Masood Malik, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, delivered a powerful keynote address on Wednesday at the inaugural session of the two-day high-level event ‘Business Summit: Leaders in Islamabad’, highlighting the critical need for visionary leadership and dynamic collaboration between the public and private sectors to combat the growing threats of climate change in Pakistan.

Speaking to a distinguished gathering of national and international business leaders, policymakers, and thought leaders, Senator Malik underscored the importance of strategic, long-term planning and bold leadership in addressing the country’s escalating environmental and climate-related challenges.

“Pakistan stands at the frontline of the climate crisis. Our future depends not only on strong policy and governance but also on how decisively our corporate sector steps up to the challenge,” said Senator Malik. “Climate resilience and sustainability are not optional anymore—they are essential for economic stability, public health, and national security.”

The Minister emphasized that while government action is crucial, the role of the corporate sector is equally indispensable in achieving Pakistan’s sustainability goals. He called on businesses to integrate environmental responsibility into their core strategies and operations, invest in green innovation, and align with national and global climate commitments.

Senator Malik pointed to successful public-private partnerships and highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting green infrastructure, clean energy adoption, water conservation, and reforestation. He urged business leaders to adopt science-based targets, embrace circular economy models, and support climate-smart supply chains.

“We need a collective movement—led by the courage and innovation of our business community—to transition Pakistan toward a greener, more resilient economy,” he added. “Together, we can not only mitigate climate risks but also unlock new opportunities for sustainable growth.”
