World Ocean Day

Lines may exist on maps, but marine life moves freely across our one shared ocean. On World Oceans Day 2026, we are reminded to reimagine our relationship with the ocean and strengthen our collective responsibility to protect marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction. 

Through the BBNJ Agreement, we reaffirm our commitment to international cooperation for the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity, in line with this year’s call for strong marine protected areas for our blue planet.
