PM’s Aide Romina Khurshid Seeks Germany’s Technical Support to Advance Pakistan’s Climate Action Plans
Islamabad (February 6, 2025) – A delegation from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), led by Ms. Christiane Amari held a meeting with high-level officials of the M/o Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC) in the office of the Coordinator to PM on Climate Change. During the meeting, BMZ representatives discussed various matters for collaboration between two sides including climate change impacts including floods, droughts, and environmental challenges. Romina Khurshid Alam, the Coordinator to the Prime Minister for Climate Change, termed Germany's technical support in developing Pakistan's climate action plans and accelerating the country’s transition to clean energy vital. Ms. Amari expressed Germany's support for Pakistan’s climate objectives, stressing the need for collaboration in knowledge, technology, and financial resources. The meeting also explored partnerships in areas such as water management, clean energy, carbon reduction, glacier protection, and climate risk financing. A focus was placed on supporting vulnerable communities and providing increased financing for climate resilience. The Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change & Environmental Coordination, Rana Ahmed Ateeq Anwar, also attended the meeting He remarked, “Educating the younger generation on climate change, imbibing sense of environmental responsibility among them through school programmes and community activities is of paramount importance.”
