COP in my City, Islamabad 2017


A two day model simulation titled "COP in My City - Islamabad" based on UN Climate Change negotiations is being organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and supported by Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit on the 14th and 15th of October 2017 in Islamabad. COP in My City is a worldwide youth mobilization project on climate change recognized by the United Nations in its Youth Solutions Report 2017, designed and coordinated by the international organization CliMates. 


The COP in My City model has been adopted in more than 200 simulations worldwide in 30+ Countries engaging thousands of university students, Nobel Prize winning scientists, civil society activists, executives and European Union Policy Makers. COP in My City Islamabad will be the first Climate Change negotiations simulation of its kind to ever take place in Pakistan. We are looking to involve some of the brightest, most committed and passionate young minds from top institutions of Pakistan to undertake roles of state representatives, environmental activists, press corps and other important stakeholders in this exercise by coming together on a single platform to negotiate a unanimous agreement on reducing global carbon emissions, transitioning towards green energy and reaching a settlement on financing of climate change adaptation programs.  


We invite you to nominate a delegation of exactly 4 students to participate in COP in My City Islamabad or interested students can apply directly through this form: Students from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply, those with past experience of public speaking and debating would be preferred. At the end of the competition, two of the best performing participants shall be provided a unique opportunity to attend UN’s annual climate change conference COP 23 in Bonn, Germany in November as part of the Pakistan delegation.

Important Information: There is no participation fee and those travelling from outside Islamabad shall be provided with full local hospitality including lodging and meals. However, participants shall have to bear their own respective travel costs.
